Here's a demo recording my left handed guitar playing nephew Justin just posted on YouTube and FB.
Enjoy!
Justin's the one on the left in the red shirt.
Yeah, I'm a little proud of him.
Doesn't show too bad, does it?

The following is a public service announcement.
Just so ya know.
WHERE: Prudential Center, Newark, N.J.
TIME: 5:05 p.m.
TV: CBS
ANNOUNCERS: Jim Nantz play-by-play, Clark Kellogg analyst
THE SPREAD: Kentucky by 1
ENROLLMENTS: North Carolina 27,700; Kentucky 27,000
ELITE EIGHT APPEARANCES: This is Kentucky’s 33rd appearance; the Wildcats are 13-19. This is UNC’s 25th appearance; the Tar Heels are 18-6.
RECORDS: UNC 29-7, Kentucky 28-8
HOW THEY GOT HERE: North Carolina d. No. 15 Long Island 102-87, d. No. 7 Washington 86-83, d. No. 11 Marquette 81-63; Kentucky d. No. 13 Princeton 59-57, d. No. 5 West Virginia 71-63, d. No. 1 Ohio State 62-60.
KEY STAT: Kentucky shoots 39.5 percent from 3-point range, and UNC hits 33.2 percent from beyond the arc. These teams met Dec. 4 in Chapel Hill, with UNC winning 75-73.
THE BUZZ: You think CBS loves this matchup? These are the two winningest teams in NCAA tourney history, as Kentucky has 106 victories (in 52 appearances) and North Carolina has 105 (in 42 appearances). UNC is all about its “Big Three” up front of C Tyler Zeller and Fs John Henson and Harrison Barnes. Zeller has been dominant in the tourney, with 82 points (on 27-of-47 shooting, 57.4 percent) and 26 rebounds. He has scored at least 23 points in each game after having just five 20-point games in the regular season. Can he continue his offensive explosion against UK C Josh Harrellson? Harrellson basically held his own against Ohio State’s Jared Sullinger. If UNC’s big men struggle to score, the Heels are in big trouble. While UNC is frontcourt-oriented, UK is well-balanced, with three potent 3-point shooters and a solid inside game led by freshman F Terrence Jones. Both are comfortable with an up-tempo game, but a fast pace is probably more important to the Tar Heels: UNC has lost seven times, and the Heels were held below 70 in five of those losses.
THE KEY INDIVIDUAL: The point guards are the guys to watch. Tar Heels PG Kendall Marshall isn’t an offensive threat, but he makes the offense go because he is a pass-first guy who knows how to get the ball inside to the big men. Kentucky PG Brandon Knight, also a freshman, is the Wildcats’ leading scorer, and he has hit the winning basket against Princeton and Ohio State in the tourney. While he had relatively poor outings in those two, he scored a season-high 30 in the win over West Virginia. He’s much more of an offensive threat than Marshall, but he’s an able distributor. Chances are, though, that if he’s not scoring in this one, UK is going to have some trouble.

GO CATS!
Kentucky 62
Ohio State 60
“That’s the best team we played all year,” Ohio State coach Thad Matta said.
The waters had pretty much returned to normal pool by Thursday evening last week, leaving behind quite a mess.
That was something that I, at 63, did not want to tackle on my own! Some of those water soaked logs could weigh as much as three or four hundred pounds
Fortunately, when I left the house Friday morning, there was an ad taped to the front door from Sanders Lawn Care saying that they did yard cleanups. Gave them a call and Mr. Sanders came over and gave me an estimate.
They would clean all that up, all four yards, for $125.00
Woohoo!
I would have gladly paid that on my own, much cheaper than the expenses incurred from the heart attack lifting those logs may have given me, but called my neighbor Tootie just to see if she would split it with me.
She jumped at the chance! Said she had had no idea how she was going to clean that up. She dropped by Sunday, gave me her half, and $35.00 for gas for the John Deere this summer.
Win, win all around! lol
Monday around five o'clock the lawn crew showed up. Read dad, mom, and teen aged son here. Dad said it was the son's business, he just helped him out. I was impressed! A teenaged boy that wants to work, and work hard, for his money is a rare creature indeed!
By eight that evening they had my yard and both the neighbors on each side of me done and were starting on Tootie's.
They came back yesterday evening and finished up.
Looks like I'm ready to mow again! Probably this weekend, if it doesn't rain.
It's still early spring but hopefully the water won't come back up again this year, but if it does, I know who I'm callin'!
And, it ain't GhostBusters!
And, yeah, I know it's a boring update.
But, that was my week.
Watched the water come up.
Then watched the water go down.
And had a beer or two while I waited. Didn't say it was all bad!
Got home yesterday evening around five and the floodwaters had receeded about two feet.
Couldn't believe the mess it's leaving behind this time! May be the worst I've ever seen.
Rubber balls, tires and rims, driftwood, logs, sticks, bottles, and even a plastic 55 gallon drum!
Good grief!
This is going to be a fun weekend coming up! The river is supposed to be back under flood stage by later tonight.
While it was up the local duck and geese populations had a field day with it, tho!
The fish come in to get at the earthworms and nightcrawlers and the ducks and geese come to get the little fishes. Glad there's no gators in Ky. or they would come to get the ducks and geeses! Course, we Kentuckians are pretty good at knocking off Gators, we did it twice this year! Haha, sorry Lena, couldn't resist!
Guess every cloud does have it's silver lining, doesn't it?
It's supposed to be in the high sixties here this weekend.
Anybody wanna come over for a little cookout?
If ya do, make sure you don't forget your gloves. And shovel. And maybe a rake or two.
It's almost spring, and once again the Mighty Ohio is out of it's banks and creeping towards our house.
Flood stage is 52 feet and she's about 54 right now. Highest I've ever seen it here was in 1997 when it crested at 57.5 feet. The water was half way up our bottom basement step before it finally started going down. This one's supposed to crest around 56.5.
During the Great Flood of 1937 she crested at 69.5 feet!
It's supposed to crest Saturday at 2 to 3 feet higher than it is right now.
Think I'll move the John Deere up here where I park my truck when I get home tonight.
Just in case.
Really don't want to be standing on the deck, watching her float downriver.
Nope. Wouldn't like that at all!
Keep yer powder dry, peeps!
*Update*
It's Saturday and the river seems to have crested and is ever so slowly going back down.
Not looking forward to cleaning up the mess that's going to be left behind.
No more rain
No more rain
No more rain
No more rain
Checking to see if my weblog editor is still working ok. Hadn't updated in so long thought maybe the batteries had gone dead. Or sumpin.
Text editor seems to be working fine. Wonder if I can still post pictures?
Yep!
Mmmmm, chili! Think I'll make some when I get home.
It's cold and rainy here today.
That oughta hit the spot!
OK, back on track. Let me check for audio.
Audio works. That's cool!
Let me see if the copy and paste function still works.

An old man, a boy and a donkey were going to town. The boy rode on the
donkey and the old man walked. As they went along they passed some
people who remarked it was a shame the old man was walking and the boy
was riding. The man and boy thought maybe the critics were right,
so they changed positions.
Later, they passed some people that remarked, What a shame,
he makes that little boy walk. They then decided they both would walk.
Soon they passed some more people who thought they were stupid to walk
when they had a decent donkey to ride. So, they both rode the donkey.
Now they passed some people that shamed them by saying how awful to
put such a load on a poor donkey. The boy and man said they were
probably right, so they decided to carry the donkey. As they crossed
the bridge, they lost their grip on the animal and it fell into the
river
and drowned.
The moral of the story? If you try to please everyone, you might
as well kiss your ass good-bye.

Well, it all seems to check out.
Looks like the only thing that's not been working on my Xanga, has been ME!
I'm coming back, I promise!!!!
C'mon now.
It's Buddly Crocker.
You should know by now, it's all about the food!
It was a nasty winter day here in NE Kentucky. Highs in the teens, overcast with blustery winds, perfect day for a little comfort food for dinner. On our weekly Walmart walkabout I spied a nice package of chuck steak pieces and instantly thought of .......
Country Fried Steak!
Let me show you my meat, and my meat beater.
Place the meat between two layers of plastic wrap to keep splattering to a minimum and let the meat expand in size as you whack it.
You can really work out some frustrations here folks. Just don't get too carried away, we still have to bread it. We're not trying to make hamburger!
After ten minutes of pounding and whacking with your tool, the meat should look something like this.
You'll need one cup of milk and one cup of seasoned flour. We use Kentucky Kernel, but if you don't have access to that you can use one cup all purpose flour and salt, pepper, garlic powder, and paprika.
Dredge the steaks in the flour, shake off excess, dip in the milk, then dredge in the flour again. Fry in 1/4 inch hot oil in a large skillet over medium heat til well browned on both sides.
When done, place on a paper toweled platter to drain. Slide into a warm oven to hold while you make the gravy.
To the pan drippings, add 1/4 cup flour, salt and pepper to taste. Stir with a whisk til you have a nice medium brown roux.
Add two cups milk, stirring constantly til it comes to a boil and thickens.
To serve, sprinkle steaks with thinly sliced scallions and drizzle with milk gravy.
We went with buttered mashed potatos, baby lima beans, and a buttered and toasted whole grain bollio to round it out.
Comfort food at it's finest!
Perfect way to end a cold dreary day.
Belly's full, it's beer thirty, and it's nice and warm in the house. I'm gonna enjoy it while I can. It's back to the grind tomorrow, and I'm not looking forward to it.
*footnote*
It was a little hard to post today. I feel no humor in the world. Been watching the coverage of the tragedy in Tucson all weekend and my heart, tho heavy, goes out to all the family's involved in this senseless act.
Sometimes the acts of man make me ashamed to be a human being.
Just wanted to take the opportunity to wish you all a happy New Year!
And to show you this card trick.
Amazing!
