Black and White
My Ohio River Heritage.
I'm 63 and so far have spent most of my life living on the banks of this old river.
She's home to me, and hopefully always will be.
The Ironton/Russell Bridge
Same bridge on a foggy morning.
Tugboat idling in the fog.
The Ironton, Oh docks.
At the foot of my yard.
Taken while mowing the yard.
Catlettsburg, Ky floodwall mural.
These were all taken behind the floodwall.
Gotta be careful where you walk!
This old river works 24/7. It never stops.
Hope it never does!
Seedsower has invited us to post in color themes,
check out her Painted This Town Red post for the schedule if you'd like to join in!

Really like all your pictures! That "leggy" tree would sure startle me if I came upon it in the twilight.
The Ohio is a 'working' river, eh? I get a real kick out of tugboats.
Love the way you see your river. I grew up on the Mississippi River so I really understand your love of the Ohio!
Unbelievable that is somewhere in the US.
I absolutely love the fog! Heck, I love all the photos! I wish I had the same place to visit as this. Oh, I am so envious!
I can see why you love the river -- these are beautiful shots. I especially love the first two of the bridge, but they're all wonderful!
David and I had some of our wedding pictures taken at one of the floodwall murals ~ the compass one.
Nice job! Love the tugboat. And that spider's just scurreh.
@buddly47 - my pleasure
You live surrounded by stunning beauty Harold! And, of course, its the mighty Ohio!
Had to cringe at the spider! Yikes! Love the B&W...
I am truly amazed and in awe of your fabulous photos! Words cannot describe the true beauty you have captured.
@LoBornlytesThoughtPalace - you know, for a moment, you had me believe you were a hot chik. Darn you.
All very nice!
@buddly47 - We have to hose ourselves down with DEET or we get swarmed! B vitamins and garlic pills don't seem to be doing the trick.
@RulerofMasons - Aaaaaaaaaaaand, you still don't have one. Ba dump bump!
@LoBornlytesThoughtPalace - Skeeters aren't bad. Yet. Wait'll August, tho.
@Roadkill_Spatula - No Gators here, Tim. Ky's always been pretty good at putting those Gators down!
@KickingSheep - @Iloveaholiday - @Lucy_or_Ethel - @mlbncsga - @Babyboomerjill - @tymedancer - Thanks!
that old man river he just keeps on rolling along.
nice capture of your home place
Love that bridge with the fog. All of these are great.
How the hec them spiders move so fast without a head. You know old timers... (starts rubbing your beard). I never did have a grandpa, (laughter)
What an absolutely beautiful view and great black and whites. You got your own little bit of Heaven there.
Gorgeous set of photos. How are the sceeters right about now?
That one tree looks like it's taking a stroll. The bridge is very classy.
Do you get any alligators that far north?
These are beautiful!!
Your a fortunate man Bud...thanks for sharing your back yard, I think I could down a beer or 20 there with no problem. Happy Memorial Day in advance.
Love the photos, looks like a great place to be!
@buddly47 - Oh yes, the floods.. I remember those!
@MethodOfMyMadness - @WildWomanOfTheWest - There is something very soothing about living and working on the banks of the river. Til it floods. Then, not so much! lol
There's just something nostalgic about your river life. So foreign to me, only read about in books, or vintage movies. You make it real for me. You make her shine.
The shot of the bird overlooking the water~
This brings back a lot of memories from my childhood. I spent several summers down in Madison, Indiana and I spent most of the day in the Ohio River!
@anvilsandedelweiss - Thankee!
Awesome, Bud : )
@C_L_O_G - Sure is, and there's a hint of pink in places. Thanks, man!
@bonmots - Thanks, Sean!
Is that one of those yellow and black garden spiders?
Wonderful pictures. The river is beautiful. I see why you love it there.
@seedsower - It's great most of the year. Springtime floods can be a problem!
@saintvi - Kinda look like mangrove roots, don't they. Might be a little scary after dark!
These are all beautiful. The one of trees with exposed roots - I see things in that photo that probably aren't there. It is one of those pictures that stimulates the imagination.
gorgeous photos.
great place you call home. you are fortunate
Absolutely beautiful Bud!
This tugs at my heart strings, I have lived by the creek over half of my life and in the city when I was not by the creek.
When I was in the city I so longed to hear the current and smell the wet bank and feel the damp night air ,I hope to always live by the water too.
