Going down! And yep, I got pics!
Got home yesterday evening around five and the floodwaters had receeded about two feet.
Couldn't believe the mess it's leaving behind this time! May be the worst I've ever seen.
Rubber balls, tires and rims, driftwood, logs, sticks, bottles, and even a plastic 55 gallon drum!
Good grief!
This is going to be a fun weekend coming up! The river is supposed to be back under flood stage by later tonight.
While it was up the local duck and geese populations had a field day with it, tho!
The fish come in to get at the earthworms and nightcrawlers and the ducks and geese come to get the little fishes. Glad there's no gators in Ky. or they would come to get the ducks and geeses! Course, we Kentuckians are pretty good at knocking off Gators, we did it twice this year!
Haha, sorry Lena, couldn't resist!
Guess every cloud does have it's silver lining, doesn't it?
It's supposed to be in the high sixties here this weekend.
Anybody wanna come over for a little cookout?
If ya do, make sure you don't forget your gloves. And shovel. And maybe a rake or two.

@freakygirlwannabee - Nope, no geese, but them ducks looked kinda tasty! No problem, I got extra shovels, too.
just as long as the cook out doesn't include the geese......lol
i would come, but my shovel is in the shop for repairs
@RoverMoon - Yep, from seagulls to cranes and egrets, we get em all. Even saw a pelican a few times. What time's dinner?
Living near such a floodable water source sure must make life interesting. Ducks and geese aside, you're probably getting all sorts of interesting bird life around there....
We're going up to 71 here today! My husband's getting off work early and we're grilling turkey burgers in the backyard!
@MedicMark - Right now, this is a dirty place! lol
@fauquet - Hahaha, yes it's a mess, but haven't seen a gator yet! Thanks, Michel!
This is impressing . What a mess ! It is like the beach at low tide with a lot of things left by Man and polluting the waters .
Glad you have not been touched and ...;you don' t have alligators !!
In friendship
Michel
@buddly47 - Yep, just finished making flowers for it a couple hours ago. Pics will be posted in a few minutes.
I have to admit that my mind wandered to dirty places when I first read the title of this post.
@ItIsAllGravy - Melanie's just cool like that. lol
@History_Nut - That would have to be a mighty big mop!
@the_rocking_of_socks - That's what she gets for being a Gator fan. Doesn't mean she's not good people. lol
Oooooh, wedding cake?
@dinhtrinh - Sure do, and all this week it was almost in the river. lol
@jhnduf - My discerning eye will take a thousand of them! He wants to know where to send the check?
@WildWomanOfTheWest - People can surprise you sometimes, can't they? I think most people, deep down, are good like that.
Oh you have land next to a river.
@WakeUpLaughing - It's nothing new, Cindy. We do it every year. Maybe I should build my own floodwall?
@Automaton_Emotion - Really? The title too? lol
@melanie14 - Excellent comment! You really hit that one on the nose!
I'll go grab the garbage bags. Maybe something good floated on in... maybe.
Excellent article! Delivering maximum value is something you are an expert at. Thanks..

Aww, poor Lena!
I'd love to come over for a cookout, but I'll be stuck baking cakes for my sister's wedding. Boooooo.
I could suggest get a mop but somehow don't think it would help right now.
We held a tornado clean-up party, folks showed up we didn't even know. Nicest party crashers I ever met!
I'm glad the geese are enjoying the flood. Too bad you have such a big clean up ahead though.
That's dirty! The title, the water, and the geese!
@seedsower - Probably get most of it cleaned up this weekend if it stays dry. It's one of the rites of spring around here! lol
Good grief is right.Whadda total mess but you have it looking so nice all summer.I love living by the water for the sound of the current ...even with all the other issues .
@jamekablue - Only mower around was mine, and it was on dry ground! lol
The power of moving water is awesome. 55 gallon drums. EEK! Are there any small cars or riding mowers in there? An ATV, maybe? LOL
@buddly47 - Aww lol I get ya!
@Cestovatelka - Yay! One volunteer!
@boricua_chic_2008 - The geese and the ducks just make the mess a little worse, if you catch my drift. lol
A cookout sounds great!
And I have a mini-shovel in my SUV at all times, so I'm good to go!
@buddly47 - yes indeed they do
Great pictures! We have ducks, geese and swans on the farm. We also have a pond. My area can get pretty flooded. It won't be fun when it happens again. I am sure cleaning that mess up won't be fun either. Good luck!
@LoBornlytesThoughtPalace - I've always wanted to sail on the QM!
Geez! And winter snows haven't even melted yet. You'd better call the Queen Mary.
@FatherFiguring - It's the thought that counts my friend, but that beer would help!
@SisterMae - We do a river bank cleanup here every year. Can't imagine how bad it would be if we didn't!
I'm a tad far, or I'd be there... with beer.
Glad the water level is going down but clean up is a pain a couple of years ago Jeff and I went down to the park and helped with the clean up it was aweful
@Bricker59 - That's one of the small prices we have to pay for living beside this grand old river, and we do it every year. Maybe this year the neighbors will pitch in to help? Hahahahaha
Sure don't envy you the cleanup Bud!
@ugotafriend - Teens do have their uses, don't they!
@pinkmojomama - What? You and Allan aren't coming over?
lol
I'd be there if I could (and I 'd bring a teen or two)
@Margo73 - Yep, they really enjoyed it. Me, not so much!
Glad somebody managed to benefit from the flood...the geese!! lol
Wow! That's a mess for sure. Hope you get some help cleaning up.
