(UPDATE) How high's the water, Mama?
It's almost spring, and once again the Mighty Ohio is out of it's banks and creeping towards our house.
Flood stage is 52 feet and she's about 54 right now. Highest I've ever seen it here was in 1997 when it crested at 57.5 feet. The water was half way up our bottom basement step before it finally started going down. This one's supposed to crest around 56.5.
During the Great Flood of 1937 she crested at 69.5 feet!
It's supposed to crest Saturday at 2 to 3 feet higher than it is right now.
Think I'll move the John Deere up here where I park my truck when I get home tonight.
Just in case.
Really don't want to be standing on the deck, watching her float downriver.
Nope. Wouldn't like that at all!
Keep yer powder dry, peeps!
*Update*
It's Saturday and the river seems to have crested and is ever so slowly going back down.
Not looking forward to cleaning up the mess that's going to be left behind.
No more rain
No more rain
No more rain
No more rain

Here's the song in case you haven't heard it.
@angi1972 - Check your IE settings. In advanced internet options settings, make sure "show image download placeholders" is not checked.
Your title makes me think of Old Crow Medicine Show... Wagon Wheel...
I just logged on and came here first and when I went to see all of the pictures I got a lot of red x's... which reminded me of my frustrations and why I don't read more blogs anymore... Maybe I need to tell the powers that be... I don't know whyu I haven't already!
I want to see your pretty pictures!
@heart_beep - I went to Coney once when I was around 14. Pretty sure I saw that statue, too.
@LoBornlytesThoughtPalace - The clean up afterwards is even more fun!
@slmret - @hilaw - @windupherskirt - @murisopsis - @In_My_Own_Little_Corner - @throughsamseyes - It's going down, but very, very slowly. Dropped about 3 inches since Saturday. But that beats the heck out of still coming up!
Awww. I'm glad the water is levelling down! Try to stay dry!
Glad to see you comment that it appears to have crested and you are safe and dry....take care!
Flooding has to be the royal pits!
Have you ever been to Coney Island in Cincinnati Harold? It's right on the Ohio and they showed a picture in the paper today of how the waters have flooded the park. There's a statue erected of how high the water got at that spot in 1937. Its way over our heads. I'm always fascinated by that statue everytime I go to Coney.
Ditto! And then I knock on wood and add no more snow!
well, thank somebody you ain't a flooded!! i agree ... no mo rain!!
So glad it appears to have crested -- no more rain on the Ohio River!!!

@Mal_P - @lupus_lady - @GoodGuyTheBoss - @slmret - @WakeUpLaughing - @jamekablue - @RoverMoon - It looks like it's crested at around 55 feet and should be going down soon, so everything is safe and dry. Thanks for your concern.
@jaydedheart - Normally, it looks like this.

Interesting. So is what we see here an area that is normally covered(to a lesser extend) by water, or is that normally dry land right behind your house?
Sounds exciting!
Don't forgot to roll up the bottoms of your pants
Maybe you need some sea plane type floats for JD. God willin' an' the creek don't rise..... thanks for the pics, man!
for god's sake man...protect the John Deere!!!
Yikes -- please stay safe!
Isn't that a new John Deere? Get it safe and you and the mrs. stay safe and dry.
Wow, you stay safe!
The power of water is amazing... (I have been looking at the tsunami pics...that is something else!)
Hope it won't come in.
@buddly47 - You need to get on Dear John and get a new pic to post, this mower is not Dear John, lol.Are you getting ready to come HOME??????
@MRS.BUDDLY - I'll have to charge the battery when I get home.
@nurseynursey - Will do!
@seedsower - The locks and dams and the floodwalls were all built after '37.
Water, water everywhere...stay safe, please.
it's really flooded to here right now . I remember when you
posted the murals on the flood walls
were they built after that great flood of 1937 ?
@buddly47 - Good idea. Man I lived near a river once. It was often very frightening.
@looking_inside_me - @windupherskirt - @VilaSpiderHawkAuthor - It shouldn't rise high enough to get in the basement, but I'm moving the new tractor, just to be on the safe side.
Oh boy we've got flooding here too. Not right here where I live (I live on a mountain) but in the low country. It's going to be a trying spring for many people I think. Hope you and yours stay safe and dry.
creep ... creep ... creep ... EEK!! stay high and dry!!
Lets hope is flows fast enough not to rise any higher.
