It's Back!
My least favorite time of year. In spite of the fact that my birthday and Christmas are rapidly approaching. Or maybe because of them. Not getting any younger, ya know.

Had three inches of dry powder this morning and it's still snowing. Thankfully, the 25 to 30 mph winds are blowing it all around so it's not real deep. Yet.
Wind chill is about 5 degrees. BRRRRR!!!!!!
Actual temp is supposed to be 6 Wednesday morning. Can't wait!
You can see a little asphalt and concrete here and there, so we didn't have to put chains on the yard truck to get around. Slowly.
Trailers are so much fun to move around and work on in this kinda stuff!
Probably should update a little. It's been awhile!
Thanksgiving came and went.
And, it was good.
We did get the tree up last week.
Ok, actually Karen did it while I was at work.
I think she did a great job!
She also got her Nutcrackers set out. Says she has 42 but wants an even 100. Oy, that's a lot of Nutcrackers!
Also on the not-so-brightside, gas is over three dollars a gallon again.
Here's a little something I wrote when it got so high the last time.
Winter's sneaking in on frostbitten feet
Not looking forward to turning on heat
Surely it seems my gas bill's outrageous
And on every front, price gouging's contagious
Starting to hate these either/or choices
Nagging at me in mean little voices
Why do these needs have to compete
Stay warm......buy beer...... pump gas......or eat?

@Hinase - Yep, coming up this Sunday. Guess it beats not getting a year older, doesn't it? lol
@the_rocking_of_socks - It all gets to be a little too much sometimes, doesn't it?
@fauquet - Thank you, Michel!
@dinhtrinh - It is inside, not so much outside! lol
@TheSutraDude - I have a SIL that lives in Buffalo, and I will never for the life of me understand why. lol
@raspberryjade - Haha, my favorite oxymoron, jumbo shrimp! They were delicious! Thanks for the BD wishes.
@ReeserTheShadow - Thank yew!
Great photos. I love your gas hike poem.
During my years there, on a few occasions Manhattan received 20+ inches of snow. It was the best. I went out on one of those mornings and not a car was moving. Parked cars were buried in white and people on cross country skis were all over the avenues.
@jacksoncroons - Those little dippy things are potato puffs, Idaho and sweet potatoes. With Sweet Baby Ray's dipping sauce. Delicious!
@murisopsis - Haha! Love the comment! Thanks, Val!
I am as you I don' t like the birthdays .
About the season it depends outside or inside . Your photos are eloquent . Outside: the misery ,inside: a comfortable and warm ambiance and table .
I have to not forget the 19th !!
In friendship
Michel
I'm guessing you have a birthday close to christmas? That reminds me of my friend..he has his birthday on the 24th and hates it. He hates christmas too =/
But yeah, snow! Not really lol
Nice pictures though!
so cozy!
My papaw's birthday is Christmas Eve. Mine's just a week after Christmas. Neither of us are in a birthday mood when it rolls around.
aww, I love the snow! it even makes a parking lot look pretty! haha
and just letting you know that picture of the shrimp platter literally made my mouth water hahaha
happy early birthday - don't be down about it, none of us are getting any younger!!
The tree is very pretty
Yup, it's back . . . and although we haven't seen any of the white stuff, I'm sure it can't be far. Damn! Your turkey looks awesome . . . We hack the crap out of ours (not very good at carving). What are those little round dippy things? They look yummy. And your tree is beautiful. I love just plain white lights and we always did our tree that way, but last year all the sets but one died and the kids complained so this will be the first year with multi-colored lights. What's that about old dogs and new tricks????
@buddly47 - Hahaha, I have been accused of being crazy on many, many occasions.
@buddly47 - ...and mine will follow close upon yours. Beautiful pictures. Karen did really good with the tree. It's very pretty.
I agree with you about winter not being fun, and the tree was pretty and well done. The poem is perfection I have to say, and I'm hoping $3 is the highest I'll pay!
@windupherskirt - Yep, gotta get those essentials taken care of first! Thanks, D!
@Harpos_Mark - Glad you finally got some snow. Enjoy it!
@srheam - I'm never ready for it! lol
no nutcrackers until after those last 4 essentials are met!!
love the snow fotoz!!
i thoroughly enjoy being out in it...i worked outside for years, it was a blast....
We are in the midst of our first real (measurable) snow storm. Finally. LOVE the tree and the nutcrackers. Big Hugs. Keep warm.
Very pretty tree!! Not quite ready for the snow here either!
@Mrs. Buddly - I think it looks great the way it is. Really.
@Masked_Melody - Prefer the snow? Are ya nutz? lol
@GoodGuyTheBoss - Thanks! Mine's coming up this weekend. I'm trying hard to ignore it, tho!
Thank you all.Nope I have not threatened him yet with the Nutcrackers, hmmm.Yes those are cards, they are for the children and grandchildren. At first I wasn't crazy about the tree but it is growing on me needs MORE lights I think but not Buddly, lol.
Just want to say: Merry Christmas or Happy Holidays to you all.
@Bricker59 - You need a snowmobile, Brick. For those emergency beer runs in the winter!
@buddly47 - Ohhh, okay! Enjoy!
@seedsower - Yep, cards for the kids and grand kids. You're welcome to take ours. Please?
@Still_groovy - I'm still here, just busy this time of year. I'm plenty cheerful, it's beer thirty now! lol
@tialoca1313 - I would enjoy it a lot more if I didn't have to work in it!
The tree is absolutely beautiful! Very classy. And I must admit, I'm a bit jealous of the snow. We've had nothing but chilly rain here lately... I much prefer the snow!
@fortheloveofblogging - Thanks, Ang!
Love the tree and poem! And I feel your pain for the years. January is my BD.
We got about ten inches or so. Snowmobiles are zooming up my street.
Karen has a good eye for decorating, nicely done!
Are they cards in the tree?
Does the sign say Ice Damn Lane?Bet you could call it Damn Ice Lane sometimes.
I want snow!
Aww, you're not getting older, you're getting better! Haha, that sounds better when said to you than if somebody said it to me!
Where've you been? I actually checked my sub list to be sure you hadn't chucked me off it, before you posted! LOL Glad to see you didn't! Your tree and the nutcrackers are so cool! Please cheer up, Bud!
Kathi
tree shot could be a card...i really enjoy this time of year....
That is what it looks like at my house too. We have snow everywhere. Unlike you I love it but then again I don't have to work out in it. Your tree is beautiful. Karen did a great job.
@ItsWhatEyeKnow - Haha, cute poeticy type comment!
@ItIsAllGravy - I've been to Iowa. It's nice. In the summer.
@vexations - I know what you mean, Bill. That alternative is a killer!
@guestbrief - Karen did good, didn't she! Thanks!
@adamswomanlost - Haha, no, she hasn't threatened me with them. Yet!
Your tree is pretty!
Your town's chilly with snow.
You're nutcrackers are cool.
And beer's the clear choice, you know!
Looks a lot like Iowa does right now.
Karen must have a lot of nuts to crack. You snow looks pretty much like what we have here. Getting older bothers me too until I think about the alternative.
oooh, your tree is gorgeous!!!!
None of us are "gettin' any younger" right along with you. I hope you have some joyful times for your birthday and for the holidays! I hope thinking about the joy and fun and encouragement YOU share around Xanga will give you a smile. Because you sure help the rest of us smile all year round. Brrr....on the snow! Beautiful on the tree! And those nutcrackers! Wow, so cool! I hope she gets 101 of them! Does she ever threaten you with her nutcrackers? HUGS to both of you today!
PS...your poem is about a serious subject...but it made me laugh. Good poem, "Bud"!
