That means I've bought 38 anniversary gifts, and I'm running out of ideas!

Any anniversary present suggestions would be greatly appreciated!

39 years. Wow! That's 16 years longer than I was single!

    But, who's countin'?

Time flies when you're having fun!

  • are you a beach person? I was gonna suggest a trip to the beach in the late evening, plan dinner at a restaurant there or make one to take as sort of a picnic. I don't even know if you live close to beach LOL so I may be of no help. However, I know i'd rather have a man cook for me (no matter his skill level) than go out to a fancy place. There's always time for eating out, but for an anniversary, I want time alone! So romantic. haha XD

    Congrats!!

  • Congratulations!!!!! I just had my 1 year wedding anniversary and you and your lovely wife make me want to work even harder to make it to 39 years :)

  • How about.. a replica of your first date? =] Or if that didn't go so well, what about your favourite date together?

  • For our 40th anniversary, I went on ebay and bought magazines, CDs, etc from the year we were married.  I found postcards and other things  from our home town and where we went on our honeymoon.  I must have had 15 or 20 different things. It was fairly inexpensive, but she still keeps them tucked away and treasures them 11 years later.

  • @ZSA_MD - A photo is a good idea,they last forever.

  •  Thanks again, wish I still looked like those pics but oh well the yrs have taken over, lol.Am not in to spa's or massages but thanks for the thoughts. I got his gift and it is wrapped and waiting,I'll cry if he doesn't like it.I'm sure whatever he decides on will be *Wonderful* as he always has good taste.

  • @curlytopchick1973 - Awwww, thanks, babygirl! Nice to see you on again! Trips are out of the question right now, maybe I'll get a week off in Sept.

    Love you, too!

  • @Jaynebug - I absolutely love that idea!

  • Well, how about a nice trip to Nebraska? You could take that anniversary and visit what has been brought from the marriage. ME!!!!!!!!!!!! I'm just sayin. I am on vacation that week.   How about you and her Mom go have massages done? Treat yourselves to being pampered by someone else. Mom could get a manicure, a facial, massage, etc....then treat her to a nice dinner.

I really wish I could have done something for you like the year that I sent you two to Cincy. I am pretty sure that no matter what you and Mom do, it will be just perfect.

    I LOVE YOU DADDY

  • a trip to the spa or couples massage? Or maybe make a bath for her with rose petals and candles

  • A spa day, schedule her a massage and a mani/pedi...drive her and pick her up so she can just be relaxed. You still pamper her after all those years because each time is so precious. Congratulations- you must be doing something right.

  • @ All Your friends: Some Very good ideas here. Vacation sounds great or a small getaway or dinner or whatever.Yes I am a VERY LUCKY  Gal. I LOVE YOU WITH ALL MY HEART and Of Course Hope we HAVE MANY MORE Years together. Think we can?

Thanks everyone for your comments and suggestions.

  • At this point~ you are a treasure and a true gift to her. But a  get-a-way together might be nice~ if she's the traveling type.  Congrats you two!!!

  • Write her name in nature and take the picture.

  • A day at the spa.

A romantic weekend at a bed and breakfast.

  • "39 things I love about you" paired with a scrapbook.
page one - picture and something you love,
page 2, another picture with something you love.

it would be awesome if you could pair the pictures with what you love.

    It's something different and special. : )

God Bless and congratulations. Your wife is a lucky lady : )

  • Aaaaah, congratulations and she is beautiful!  Take her away on a romantic weekend, a cabin in the mountains!

  • She is beautiful Harold. Congratulations on your anniversary.

No one knows her as well as you or your children. Have a picture taken of your family and give it to her in a fine frame. Simple things make the best gifts.

Going away to an ocean resort would be wonderful, kind of expensive, and may be you can do it on your fortieth anniversary.

  • 39 years?... Wow!... What is the secret to your longevity?

    Congratulations.

  • Congratulations.  This is sort of a nice run up for next year.

  • Awww..congrats! :) You can't go wrong with jewellery, but make it special..maybe a letter with roses? :)

  • Give her something small and special for all 39 years (one a day) leading up to the anniversary.
I would take the best of the comments and use this for ideals of individual
gifts. Btw great idea bring this question to the Xanga crowd.

  • Congratulations Bud!  To Karen too!

Wow, I would say sometime alone together... cause we still have monsters at home.... but you guys probably have that all of the time...

The flowers are a great idea... and making her dinner or taking her out, I know you make dinner all of the time though.

Now I know why we forget our anniversary all of the time, it's to hard to think of gifts!

    Good luck!

  • scapbook of your life together. you must have a FEW things to put together after so many years :)

  • Whatever you get, make sure you give it to her where you went on your first date. That will definitely kick it up a BIG notch. Well, it would for me.

  • Karen is a beautiful woman Bud,you lucked out.
    I think a vacation would be great....Hawaii?

  • yay and congrats!   Goin out to eat is the most common form of celebration around here.  We're doin that tonight for my son-in-law's b-day which is also today.

  • We're planning to go away for the weekend to celebrate our 30th this fall.

    That second photo is smokin'!

  • big congrats man!! and to her too!!

  • Hahah. You lot got together on my birthday! Awesome.

Well. Women love jewellery, see what you can get.

  • well, my husband and I just take each other out to eat and he always has me pick the place and sometimes I pick the DQ and then later I can say,"this is where he took me for my ....." and he defends himself and says ,"she picked it." but otherwise we are our presents to each other. Every day we wake up is it!!!

  • Awww congrats!

  • YAY! Congratulations & happy anniversary! (I say it today because my memory is FAIL and I will likely forget by the 20th. -.-)

I dunno about your wife, but I know the best thing my dad could do for my mom is clean the house, cook some super nice dinner, and get her a good movie to enjoy in the evening. Perhaps go for a drive or a walk with the dog. (Or...get me and my sister to do something with them...but that's a lot harder to do these days.) My mom's not much of a romantic though. My dad bought her a rose at some point in time and she yelled at him for wasting money on it!  xD

Also, I reallyyyy like that second picture. :)

  • Woot! Happy Anniversary! I'm a practical mouse - I like flowers but would much prefer some to put in the garden than on the table... If she likes roses why not buy some lovely rose bushes and plant them where she can see them every day? Or some other perennial flowers - cone flowers, shasta daisies, hostas, a forsythia bush...

Then again there is no traditional gift for the 39th anniversary only the modern suggestion of lace... I'm sure you can think of something lacey she'd like....

  • Congratulations that is really awesome! may you have many more!

  • Congrats on 39 years together.  My wife and I just celebrated 30 and at this point in our life we don't want more stuff, we want time together.  So how about a few days away, someplace special, just the two of you.

  • Well I think congratulations is in order here. CONGRATULATIONS

  • I think Bricker's idea is perfect. Congratulations, Bud! That's quite an achievement these days!!

  • @Bricker59 - All good ideas, Brick! Thanks, man!

  • @LoBornlytesThoughtPalace - Isn't that always the case? Funny how that works out!

  • All the ugly guys get the good lookin' grrrlll!

  • First of all, let me say, I salute you and your wife for staying together for so long! That really is awesome.

Jewelry. Buy her a nice pair of earrings with whatever stones she prefers, then next year for 40 years, buy her a ring to match the earrings.

Todays beer is in your honour Bud. 39 years is very impressive!

  • @suggestivetongue - We're hoping to get one of those in Sept!

  • @Harpos_Mark - That is a good idea! Thanks, Sandra!

  • Well, I don't know your wife, but if it was me, 39 long stemmed roses would be a great place to start.

    And congratulations to you, both!
