  • Need a light?

Didn't realize that I had so many of these.

Here's where they usually set around gathering dust.

Wiped the dust off and lined up on the pool table to get a better look at em.

Seems every 2 or 3 years or so I get a new one for some reason, birthday, Christmas or whatever and the one I'm using goes on the shelf.

There's a 60th Anniversary Zippo (never used), a Y2K Zippo, Air Force, Steelers, a Marlboro Zippo, some Camel Zippos,  a couple of trench lighters, and asst. plastic ones.

That old Zippo to the right of the cue ball, with the peace sign scratched into it,  I bought in Thailand in 1969. I've lost it three times and it always comes back.

The lid is held on with a bent straightpin. lol

At VanSlam '76 in Richmond, Va. I opened it, and the striker wheel and spring flew out of it, not to be found on the ground anywhere. But, what I did find a few minutes later, was a new Zippo dropped on the parking lot. Picked it up and swapped the guts and put the new one back on the ground.

It still works to this day.

    I think it's haunted!

    Or possessed!

  • @seedsower - Joe's diner. Open 24 hours.

  • What are the words on it?

  • @Aloysius_son - Truer words never spoken, my friend!

  • @murisopsis - Me thinks so too! That's why I stopped carrying it! lol

  • @seedsower - I forget what that one was called. I've had it for years. Art decco maybe?

  • @jacksoncroons - Thanks Jackson! You got a picture of that lighter?

  • @marigold_mom - Sounds like a yard sale in the making?

  • Cool collection!!!

I came to tell you what a great interview you gave to Beth for the shout out!  I love your feelings about living by the river!!!

  • PSSSSSSSSSSST! Just lettint you knoe I read the shout out... I always knew you were/are a great guy!

  • two things no self respecting man should ever be with out... flint and steel... I gotta have fire and a knife or I am nothing more than a monkey wearing pants.

  • Hi! Came over from Seedsower's shout out. Nice collection. The lighter that is possessed - is that the frankensteined one? (that you did the entire innards transplant on) If so it probably is possessed!

  • What is the one to the right above the Y2K  lighter? Sort of scalloped edges? I like all of emI learned how to fill lighter and clean them when I was a little girlmy dad had the same lighter for years and I was the keeper of the flame.

  • I like the Camel one myself... reminds me of Still Life with WoodPecker... one of my favorite books...

    HI BUD!

Hope your having a great weekend. Thanks for showing us your collection... I love seeing what people collect.

  • I used to want to collect something to give me something to do, but never could get around to it -- the prospect of having to clean and dust my collectible whatevers has kept me away from it.  Didn't stop me from accumulating a lot of s___t over the years which I wish would just go away though.

  • @buddly47 - LOL Still a fan, just not as passionate about the game as before (pinch my self) Yeah I did say that... O wells. Keep us updated if there are anymore phenomenal occurrences with that lighter, if it should zip off and back again..lol.

  • Cool collection, even if you never really intended to start a collection. I have one shaped like a Hawain Tiki . . .

  • @wematter - WHOA! Used to be? How'd that happen? Seriously, I did lose it three times. Gone, for months. Once, it showed up in a jacket pocket that I hadn't worn in years. Once, a girl that I had taken home back in the winter, called and asked me if I was missing a lighter (it has my initials scratched in it). She had found it when the snow melted. And once a customer asked for a light and when he left I realized he never gave my lighter back. I didn't know the guy so figured it was gone. Months later, he walked in again and asked if that lighter was mine. Go figure. I think it's possessed! lol

  • :) maybe you should learn some zippo tricks, those look really cool! I have a friend who can spin them and stuff :) .

  • Nice collection. I think that Steeler lighter was eying me, it knows what big fan I used to be. I liked the zippo story, I might have some  things that do the same thing, they just reappear, can't think of them now.

  • @tialoca_talks - I think maybe I do! lol

  • @ItsWhatEyeKnow - LOL. Typo! That was supposed to be "lost it three times". And the fuel is called lighter fluid.

  • Nice collection.

@ItsWhatEyeKnow - The fuel is called Zippo Fuel, but there is also a cheaper version of the fuel called Bronsol.

  • "I've lost it the times and it always comes back." -

I used to love to flip my dad's zippo with the thumb of the hand I held it with, which was a challenge because he only smoked for my early childhood years so my hands were smallish.  I loved the smell of the fuel too.  Was it called butane?

  • hey buddy, gotta light?
