Don't know where he came from, but he was here when I opened the doors this morning.

    Cute, isn't he?

With all the truck traffic around here I didn't want to just set him outside, so I took him over across the road and set him (or her) on the bank leading down to the creek.

I'll keep an eye on him and if he starts back across the road, I'll chunk him IN the creek.

     For his own good!

Was doing my lot check after lunch and flushed these guys out.

Two of them stopped at the edge of the lot, so I rolled my window down and very, very slowly drove up to about twenty feet away from them.

Damn things are just almost tame! But, they're a big nuisance. Almost hit one as I turned into the lot last week. It stopped right in the middle of the road, and stood there looking at me. Had to blow the horn and drive towards it befor it would budge.

Lucky for them, I don't bowhunt anymore!

  • What gorgeous animals! The tortoise and the deers. Wow.

  • @MrsHammett - Probably this. Right in front of my office!

  • @buddly47 - whats the wildest thing you've seen out there, bud?

  • @heart_beep - Yep, they're everywhere. I'm thinking about opening a petting zoo!

  • Looks like nature is at your front door, back door, side door....etc.!

  • @buddly47 - here, too, sadly so, because central Vermont is more populated and the deer are always in the roads. I hate it.

  • @BianchiStreet - We're overrun with wildlife around here! Seems to be more and more every summer. Thanks for the rec, Sandra!

  • GREAT turtle! It is surprising how they manage to catch us unaware - ha! Love the deer pics, too...lots o' deer in VT, but there are not the herds of them here in north central that we'd see when we lived in southern Vermont...nice! Thanks..S

  • @seedsower - He must have been in here somewhere when I closed up last Friday. Or he's a cat burglar in disguise!

  • How in the world did that turtle get in there?
    Ang's turtles are really cool.

  • @MrsHammett - Did you bring friends with you? I've got about 50 footprints from Spain right after yours. Hahahahahahahaha!

Yeah they are pesky. There's 13 or 14 adults and 7 or 8 fawns in this little hollow. Thanks for coming over, sweetness!

  • the turtle is the cutest thing! I wish I lived alongside deer, but i bet they can get pesky!

  • @buddly47 - Mainly because it was getting to be a lot of work to take care of.

  • @buddly47 - just to tease me probably -darn doves

  • i like spydees and thangs ... i do ... i do ...

  • @Jaynebug - His shell was pretty scruffy and scraped up, and he's a little one, too! Looks like he's had a few brushes with the trucks around here, maybe. I'm surprised he's not been flattened already!

  • @Danth - It was a close call, but I managed to make it to beer thirty!lol

  • @windupherskirt - You just like creepy crawly stuff. You can't fool me!

  • @jacksoncroons - Lotta work involved in eatin' a deer!!!! The only way I like venison is in stew. That's a lot of cutting and cubing. I'd just as soon stop at Kroger's on the way home!

  • @angi1972 - Do you still have your painted turtles? This guy was a terrapin, I think.

  • @WakeUpLaughing - He was cute, and little too. His shell was about the size of a baseball.

  • @mr_randyc - I always try to keep my camera in the front seat right beside me!

  • @Jillycarmel - Shooting at em wouldn't help anyway, they're come right back and bring their friends!

  • @sandburm - I don't know how you do it, Sandy! Don't be jokin' about another stroke tho!!!

  • Love the pictures.  From the look of his shell, he's already had a rough life.  Thanks for do the right thing and getting him out of harms way.  The last shot of the deer is perfect!

  • It was a wild life kind of day for you, Bud! I am glad you survived it! =)

  • great photos man ... right time, right place ... i got a thing for turtles ... like froggies best ...

  • Sounds to me like they're just begging you to eat 'em. But that turtle is a cutie . . . glad you rescued him!

  • I LOVE the turtle My kids would have wanted to take it home and I am ashamed to say I would have been VERY tempted to let them!

  • Nice deer pics.  I saw a doe with two fawns this morning but my camera was in the trunk.  My loss!

  • how sweet! chunk him in the creek for his own good.

that is the way I feel about the doves on in a line on the wire in the back of the house-just tempting me to shot them -no I would never do that.

  • @buddly47 - I'm still awfully shaky and extremely weak, in spite of "help" from a couple of hubby's  relatives all last week and home health aide today. Today, after she left, I ended up doing all the housework, cooking, laundry, taking out garbage and recyclables to road, paying bills, walking to the mailbox on the other side of the park, washing dishes, rewashing a lot of clothes that were not done properly last week,(I prefer to use soap and fabric softener) and I still have a lot to do; but I needed some shut down time. I also had to go to Walmart to replace some things that were thrown out last week. I also found a lot of dirty dishes hidden in the oven. I'm still finding little "surprises" around here and there. And there are a lot of things that I just can't find. I really enjoyed my little "vacation" last week in ICU, even though I was tied down with IVs, heart monitor, oxygen, etc., and the 3x daily injections of Heparin; but now it's back to work; just hope my DRs don't hear about this. Makes me sort of look forward to having another stroke so I can get some rest.  ;D
Especially loved the pictures of the deer; when I was little, I fed a fawn and raised him for 3 years. Then I think someone shot Bucky as I never saw him again. Was that a painted turtle? I've only seen one in a picture.

  • @sandburm - LOL!!! Damn, it's good to see you back on here! How are you feeling?

  • @pinkmojomama - I don't want to have to work THAT hard for dinner! Besides, it's almost beer thirty!!!LOL

  • Hey Bud, is your company an Equal Opportunity Employer? Maybe these guys are your new fellow employees; just make sure they have their green card with them!   If not invite them to/as dinner. LOL!!!

  • Appetizer:  Turtle Soup
    Entree:  Venison Tenderloin

    You threw dinner away!!!!

  • He's cute.  I always stop to move turtles out of the road. You got some great pics of the deer. The last one is perfect!

  • @Simbathe2nd - Why did you release it?

  • @tialoca_talks - You can have all of them you want. They're a big pain in the butt around here!

  • they'd look great swimming in a pot of gravy or in my dehydrator...funny, i'm  making up a load of jerky right now...

  • @buddly47 - I cant even keep Mexican Jumping beans alive... dont send them my way!

  • @MomGoneMadd - You can have some of these. There's 7 0r 8 newborn fawns in the flock this year!

  • I love turtles that is so cute.. and those deer? So pretty. We saw some at Valley Forge and I was like a kid on Christmas as I never see such things..

  • Aww cute turtle. I had a pet turtle for about a year. Then we released it into the wild.
