Dinnertime for Spidey!
Does anyone know what kind of spider this is? They are tiny creatures. I've never seen one with an abdomen bigger than a BB.
They will take on anything that the web will hold for a few minutes! Bees, wasps, hornets, doesn't seem to matter to them, and they usually win!
I even saw two of them tag team a large red wasp one day. When they finally subdued it, the larger one ran the smaller one off!

We have two 12' wide by 15' high bay doors in the front of the building with 28 panes of glass in each one. There's a web in almost every corner of every pane.
I could pretty much spend the whole day watching these guys!
Next time they tackle a large wasper, I'll try to get a picture and update this post!

Very cool pic!
You know the old adage--the only good spider is a dead spider.......................LOL It does have a shape of a black widow. Nasty things, spiders, with those creepy spindly icky legs. *shivers* Hope you find out what kind it is--maybe take the pic to an exterminating company?
A guy that works in our bldg (ins adjustor) got bit by a brown recluse while inside this car that had a ton of crap in it. At least that's where he thinks he got bit. ANYHOOOOO, you should have seen the crater in his arm--very disgusting! All the dead tissue just fell out. *SHUDDERS*
*hugs*
@buddly47 - Yep Buddy, took anti viral med, now pain relief. I let the pain get out of control and had to go to ER night before last. If anyone has had chicken pox they should go take the vaccine to prevent ever getting shingles. Very painful and a slow recovery..... I am hanging in there .......... thanks
@jeanmarie26 - Hi Jean! We have recluses here too, and black widows. Not a fan of either one. Are you doing anything for those shingles?
When I looked at this photo of an upside down spider I thought , " I've got to get off these drugs soon" The only spider I worry about here in Texas is the Brown recluse..... On their back is the shape of a fiddle. I don't like spiders neither do I like these shingles. If a spider bit me I doubt I would scarcely feel it... Ciao, Jeanmarie
@tvtfln - LOL! No, he's not. He's tiny. His little body is only about an eight of an inch long. I shot that pic on macro. He's magnified a little.
I don't know what kind it is, BUT, do know I don't want to meet him face to face. That is one huge spider.
@the_rocking_of_socks - But they are tiny little things! You can barely see them from 5 feet away!
You couldn't pay me enough to get that close to a spider, especially one that can take on a wasp! *shudder*
@jacksoncroons - Yes they are. The little buggers amaze me!
Dunno what it is, but I'm glad to hear you don't kill them. They are amazing creatures.
@angi1972 - That's what we have here. They carry all their babies on their back and went you squoosh em', a gazillion little speeders run everywhere!
@Jillycarmel - @buddly47 - Wolf spiders here are HUGE too... and black or grey and hairy! They are the only ones that scare me...well them and the black widows! I can't kill those fast enough!
At first I thought maybe an Orb spider... but you say their tiny? Hmm I can't wait to find out what it is! We are big spider watchers at my house too.
@Jillycarmel - Not the ones around here. Click here!
wolf spiders are tiny
@pinkmojomama - LOL! Sorry, but thanks for the "ewwwww"!
@IfonEarth - @stixandstonz - I don't either, but I got plenty of 'em!
@windupherskirt - Fangs fer the rec, girl!
@five11nation - Hey DC! Thanks, man!
Uh...EWWWWWW. I detest spiders and can't even look at the picture. Bleh. I just haven't commented in a while, so I couldn't leave without saying Hello! and "ewwww"!
I have no idea and it gives me the shivers.
I have no clue, but that's pretty cool.
awesome photo ... no help on "name that spidey" ... i like spiders ... but you knew that ...
man, you take some vivid pics, buddy.
nice shot!
@tialoca_talks - You crack me up!!!!!!!!! I just admire the little varmits, they don't back down from anything!
well, that narrows it down...i'm going with tiny golden brown garden spider...bahahhahaha....no, maybe a thin legged wolf spider which is as small as 1/8 inch or..the legs and shape of it are not unlike the immature black widow...
@buddly47 - Ah, squeezable!
@nattata - They're about this size --- o
@nattata - A tiny (1/8th inch in dia.) pellet fired from a BB gun.
@buddly47 - What is a BB?
@MooncatBlue - @Jillycarmel - @nattata - LOL! They're tiny, no bigger than a BB.
@tialoca_talks - Golden brown?
Yep! It's a "creepy spider"! lol
we always called them wolf spider but that's just here in texas maybe.
orbs come in lots of sizes...hard to say, what color is it?
we don't have those here. i am not losing sleep over that fact. great shot though
@tialoca_talks - I thought garden orbs were a lot bigger. These are teeny tiny little guys!
@buddly47 - i have three spiders in my house that i leave alone, they eat bugs, dear...don't kill them...that is just a plain old garden orb spider..totally harmless...
bug bits bug bits disgusting creepy bug bits bug bit bug bits spiders eat 'em up YUM.
@into_the_lens - I didn't think spiders could eat like that!
@WakeUpLaughing - I usually kill spiders, but I've never killed one of these. I kind of admire em!
Oooh! Cool shot!
I have no idea what kind of spider they are, but that's pretty badass.
My friend and I, once threw a fly into a spider web, and instead of subduing the fly and wrapping it for later, the spider shoved the thing in it's mouth and devoured it whole. I'd never seen a spider do that before or since; it was hysterically awesome.
