A Symbol of Hope
For the past two weeks, from sunup to sundown, this bird has been launching himself at our patio doors.
Every day. All day long.
The county ext. agent says he sees his reflection in the glass and thinks it's another bird. Since it's spring and mating season, he's wanting to "hook up"!
But, for two weeks straight? Every 15 or 20 seconds? All day?
If I walk over by the door, or go out on the deck he flies away, but as soon as the coast is clear, he comes right back.
Some times he hits the glass so hard he stuns himself and winds up on the deck. But he shakes it off and starts all over again.
Does his little pea sized bird brain not remember the two weeks of constant failures? Or, is every launch a first attempt in his mind?
Or do the failures, and the pain, not matter?
Is he hoping that this time, this very next time, he is going to score?
This time, he's going to get him some of that itty, bitty, birdie booty?
I guess hope really does spring eternal.
Or, could he just be the dumbiest assed bird on the planet?
Happy Easter, everybody!

@buddly47 - Eeep. Okay, well here's hoping he doesn't hurt himself between now and then. :]
@seedsower - Been a little busy. Lot of things going on right now.
@IfonEarth - He's still at it. I found a nest in an old stovepipe around the side of the house. I think he's protecting his territory from his reflection! Prolly keep it up til the nest is empty.
FYI: Time for another post already.
Awww, poor birdie. I hope he isn't (seriously) hurting himself. Has he stopped? (It's been another two weeks...!)
A hope in spite of the failures ! or narcissism ?
In friendship
Michel
@Ed_Kaz - This bird is definitely not getting the word! It's been over a month and he's still at it!
Hey. The bird's the word.
Aw, he's cute!
Better get that bird some TAIL! roflmao
*hugs*
@SaadiaOnline - LOL! The boys always seem to "get" me, for some reason.
@buddly47 - I can see how his antics would be annoying, but I just showed your post to the boys and they can't stop giggling!!!
@SaadiaOnline - What a pleasant surprise! You just made my day, girl!
BTW, he's hopelessly something, he's still at it.
Maybe he's hopelessly narcissistic. I mean, he is awfully cute. Maybe he can't find anyone as adorable as himself??
@LetMeGoToo - He was still doing it this morning. I think he's just retarded!
Window clings tend to stop that behaviour. It's pretty bizarre, though. I've had birds actually kill themselves flying into our living room picture window
Now that's one bird who needs glasses.
Wow.
Thinking with his.....ummm...bird brain. heh.
@gllady - Good lord! I didn't realize how lucky I was!! Thanks!!!!!
I just had to come back and post THIS FOR YOU. Just think, you could have had one of THEM attacking it's competitor in your wIndow instead! ROFLMAO!!!! *hugs*
He's persistent. You gotta give him that much.
It looks like tufted titmouse. I know cardinals do the same thing in our area and they are just as energetic in tyring to ward off their competitors-LOL. Crazy that they do that isn't it?
To everything, turn turn turn, there is a season, turn turn turn and a time to every purpose under heaven.
*hugs*
@pinkmojomama - The titmouse stalker, huh? I like that!LOL It's 36 hours later and he's still at it! Jeeeez!!!!!
Nope, can't go for dumb ass here, unless I call myself one too. Just hopeful, I guess.
uroki
I've met guys like him, and they just don't get it. They are what we commonly refer to as "stalkers" these days.
Dumb ass bird.
Sounds like determination to me, or he wants what he can't have.
now, think of the most powerful memories you have, and may it be your best wet dream and first time if you are the original fur triangle, or darker memories of some annoying trauma plagueing you still- possibly getting involved with that best wet dream / first time... and ask yourself how much you like your memory each and every twelve ounce arm-curls...and possibly a whiskey if you're in need...and on your way to no more memory or shotgunning the country tune on the radio, realize how bloody hard it is to find things ithout memory... it really is a double edged sword this memory crap---very little selection! and if i complain about an upgrade- someone kindly bashes me senseless with a chair.
i liked jillcarmel's response ... poor little pecker ...
The true definition of insanity......doing the same thing over and over, hoping for a different result!
Most birds are dumb asses, so I'm going with dumb ass!
poor little pecker
happy easter
MAYBE he's just stuck on himself and can't see himself anywhere but in your window lol
@BianchiStreet - But, then I wouldn't have anything to keep me entertained?
@jacksoncroons - I know what you mean. I've banged my head against a few brick walls myself,LOL.
OMG! If you put something - a photo of a very large cat or owl, for instance - on the doors, perhaps he will see it a realize that the glass is there...yeeeeesh...S
This little birdie only differs in frequency from some of the guys I've dated (and some of the women I've known) I think banging your head against a wall either releases endorphins or is some kind of aphrodesiac . . . only way I can figure it out.
@SerenaDante - I wonder if he's going to miss his only chance to reproduce trying to hook up with himself?
Aww... poor birdy >.<
