Tagged by Bricker 59, dang it!
The object of 4th picture tag is to:
1) Choose the fourth folder where you store your pictures on your computer
2) Select the fourth picture in the folder
3) Explain the picture
4) Tag four people to do the same
So, here goes. And oddly enough, it's one my favorite pictures.
This picture is of Karen and I, the kids, Raymona, Matt, and Carly. And the bestest dog ever, Frisky.
It was taken in the summer of 1975 by the best friend I have ever had the honor and priviledge to know, David Fosner. Dave and I spent 4 years in the Air Force together, and stayed in close touch after we got out. Dave was from Grand Rapids, Mi and summers usually found us on the way north to visit for a week or so, then in the fall before school started back Dave and his girlfriend Jean would come down to Ky.
He called me in the early summer of '76, excited about a motorcycle he was going to buy. I tried to talk him out of it to no avail, tried to get him to look for a small car instead. He said he had gone back to college and needed something cheap to get back and forth with.
Two months later he was hit and killed by a drunk driver. Dragged over a hundred yards.
Odd you should tag me, Brick. We share the same hatred of drunken drivers, my friend.
Dave and Jean, Christmas 1975
I still talk to Dave sometimes. Late at night out on the deck, with a beer in hand.
He doesn't answer.
Maybe some day?
So, I tag- Saadia, MrsHammett, Michel, and Jaynebug

Great pictures.. of your family and of Dave and his wife. Sad story. I am sure he hears you when you talk to him, and I am also sure that he talks back to you... but you can't hear him.
@buddly47 - (tips hat to you)
@buddly47 - They got along very well, but my parents have decided to only have her in once a month. I am going to keep trying!
@In_My_Own_Little_Corner - Thanks, Teresa. How's your mom doing with the SIL?
That is a great picture and I love that you still talk to your friend. I am sure he is looking down and smiling everytime you do it!
@storyslut - How sweet of you to stop by and comment. Thanks!

@Jaynebug - "In the silent times we hear our own words answer our questions to those we miss. We hear the inner voice that tells no lies." How beautifully spoken. Thanks, Lyne.

That's a fine lookin' family right there! Karen is lovely.

@flatpick46 - Yeah, I still had it all then!
Love these pictures, the happiness shines through!
@buddly47 - And the hair!! Haha!
Wonderful picture. Three kids huh? Me too. My heart goes out to you for the loss of your friend Dave. In the silent times we hear our own words answer our questions to those we miss. We heart the inner voice that tells no lies. So tagged I am. Back to the drawing board...um oh yeah it's 2009..back to the future!
Love the family photo. So sorry to hear about your friend. Totally stinks. ((((HUGS)))) and a toast in his honor.
That's a great picture.
Drunk Drivers suck. I'm sorry you lost your friend.
Beautiful picture.

@Queenelizzy - Not weird at all. I think that's why a lot of us are here. Xanga is the closest thing to family I know of. There's a lot of wonderful people that hang out here!
I think I mentioned last time I came out here how cool I thought that family pics was, at least I meant to....I like the Christmas pics too.
Thanks for the kind words too!
It funny how much the support from my internet friends has helped.
Is that weird?
xo, QE
@Ed_Kaz - Thanks, Ed. And, I mean that.
well, I got the photo up and what you to at least come and leave a message now. jillc
@flatpick46 - It was the jeans, huh? hahaha
Amazing, funny, and touching. A worthwhile tag for a change.
Wow that sucks that he was killed. If only he heeded your advice. Love the picture! You didn't need to tell me it was 1975--I knew it!
I will have to post the little hippie family and no one ever believes it's me though.
Yes, it's hard and good to talk about it -that is why I got started with xanga 2 years ago to fill a hole but I found out that you can't fill it but you can meet others who feel like you.
@angi1972 - I was lucky, Ang. And, going on your response, I still am!
@jillcarmel - You should post that photo. I would love to see it! And, talking helps sometimes, glad it's not just me.
That is a GREAT picture but an incredibly sad story. I am sorry for the los of your friend, but also happy that you were lucky enugh to have had him in your life since he sounds like the best kind of friend.
wow look at you and Karen. I have a photo from 76 that looks similiar.
sorry that you lost your friend. I lost my best friend from 8th grade on -a few years ago -she was 55yr old and I talk to her also.

That is a wonderful picture! Love it. I am sorry about your friend, Bud. But, I agree, betcha he's listening.
oki
@SaadiaOnline - You are welcome to the picture, Saadia. And thanks for those sweet words. I think he hears me, too.
@MooncatBlue - That was a long, long time ago, Leah. But, Dave was more of a brother to me than my own brother ever was.
@Bricker59 - You didn't drag up anything, and you owe me nothing, my friend.
@menskeet - Thanks, D. Sorry to hear about your "death in the family",LOL!
@Danth - Thanks, Dan. Dave was a very introspective person. Your writings remind me of him somewhat.
The photo is something I'd like to have framed on the wall of my office. I love family photos, and I love your smile in this one Bud. You can tell that you are very fond of whoever (whomever?) is taking the picture.
I am so sad to hear about Dave and his untimely death, though. He may not answer you when you talk to him, Bud, but I'll bet he hears every single word.
xox
This is such a rockin' picture. I think I have seen it before. It is perfect.
I am sorry you lost the friend who took it, Bud.
I love the family pic Bud!!
But I didn't mean to drag up unhappy memories, I'm sorry.
I owe you a case of Canadian.
great photo bud!
i'm sorry about your friend.
I have seen that family photo before and I really like it... And I don't think there is anything wrong with talking to departed friends!
