It's Rivalry Time! Again!
The University of Kentucky Wildcats are traveling to Louisville today to take on the hated Cardinals in a game of basketball.
I decided to spare you the 26 hour countdown this time! No no, don't thank me. Thank Leah!
Last time I did that, she unsubscribed.
If I did it again, she probably wouldn't resubscribe this time!
Lesson learned!
Kentucky opens 2009 by traveling to in-state rival Louisville this Sunday in Freedom Hall in a game nationally televised by CBS. This is the 40th meeting between the two schools, with Kentucky holding a 26-13 advantage. The Wildcats have won three of the last four in the series.
The Cats are coming off an 84-52 win over Central Michigan led once again by junior Jodie Meeks. Meeks tallied a game-high 23 points while Patrick Patterson chipped in 15 points and nine rebounds. Josh Harrellson added 12 points and six rebounds in only 17 minutes of action.
The Wildcats enter the rivalry game on a season best six-game winning streak, and has won 11 of their last 12 games.
Louisville enters the game after a 56-55 loss to UNLV on Wednesday.
Notes: Kentucky leads the all-time series 26-13, including 10-6 in Louisville…Louisville won last year’s meeting 89-75 in Rupp Arena, ending a three-game UK winning streak…The Cats have won each of the past two meetings in Freedom Hall…UK guard Jodie Meeks has averaged 32 points per game in the last two outings he’s had at Freedom Hall, shooting 13-of-21 from three-point range in the process…Louisville shut down Patrick Patterson last season, holding him to 6 points on 3-of-14 shooting, the worst offensive performance of his young career…Louisville coach Rick Pitino is 3-4 against UK since signing on with the Cats’ biggest rival.
