The very first public announcement of the death of John Lennon was made by Howard Cosell during the last few seconds of  Monday Night Football on Dec. 8th 1980.

I was watching this game and when I heard the news about John I switched the radio on to follow the story. I had completely forgotten about that til a friend posted this on Facebook.

30 years is a long time!
