Dazed Dragonfly
I was at work today, looking at the menu on the new Nikon D60, and wishing there was something new around here to take pictures of, when I heard something hit the glass in the bay doors.
Looked over and saw this laying on the floor.
Thankee!

Thought he was dead for a minute, then I saw his legs and wings twitch a little every now and then. Flipped him over on a piece of copy paper and took him out and layed him on the grass.
Wasn't anything happening, so I put him on the hood of my truck. And, yes I put my hand on it to see if it was to hot. Don't need any fried dragonflies!
These were shot from around four feet away with the 200mm VR lens.
He flopped around and flew for a second.
Finally took off...........
and landed on his back!
Took off again...............
DOH!
Once again, airborne bound.
Then he stopped.....
Looked like he was getting the cobwebs out of his head, if not off his wings, so I backed up a little, and he took off. Can't get that picture to show up!
When I figure it out, I'll update!
Uploaded it again. There we go!
There. That's my good deed for this month!

Excellent good deed. I am amazed at how delciate dragon fly wings are and you got great photos of them. Hapy he was able to clear the cowwebs out and fly off.
Well done! Our worth as humans is measured by our compassion . . . nice pix
Your first shots with the new camera (What are you gonna name her?) are phenomenal! It will keep getting better and better ,I can't wait to see what you do with the camera!

I wonder if he "saw the light" in his near death experience...or had his life flash before his eyes?!?!

cripes...that is a camera....and good for you helping out the dragonfly...they eat their weight in skeeters....i get birds hitting my picture window all the time, makes a terrible noise, but only kills a few of them...knocks the juice out of them, tho, if you get my meaning....
Way cool photos! I'm imagining that ol' dragonfly going back and telling all his friends about his 'near death experience'!
@Bricker59 - "....and so beautiful to boot!"
Gasp! You gonna....boot him???
Looks like he's been through enough, Brick!

Awww, poor lil guy! I am so lovin' his stylish green aviator goggles!
Sweeeet shots, Uncle Bud. t
You are a dragonfly's hero Budman! Wonderful pictures. We've had birds hit the glass and be knocked loopy for a bit then take off like nothing happened. Hitting that glass at dragonfly speed would be painful. Have a great weekend.
how sweet.
awww dragonfly's are cool!
That's a fine new camera, Bud! Cool pics of the almost dead bug too, lol
